An OBE/Astral Projection Technique

Some people find conscious out-of-body experiences or astral projection easy, most of us do not. Often it is not enough to simply practise a technique and expect to leave your body immediately. Experiencing conscious OBEs is a skill that has to be incorporated into a lifestyle, a mindset, a way of thinking and living.

Astral Projection/Out-of-Body Experiences are simply a step to a greater inner knowledge, not the goal in itself. Astral Projection is a tool that we can use in order to help us in our lives, to help us make wiser choices and ultimately it can also help us in our 'deaths'.

The practise of an OBE technique is only a part of what we can do to be successful, it is a part of the process. In future articles we will look at other aspects of the OBE process. In this article we will look at one technique that I found to be very successful for me in intiating a conscious out-of-body experience.

My first out-of-body experience wasn't planned but after it happened I wanted more. How could I ensure that my first one wasn't my last one? I had to find ways to do the same thing again. I read a few books to find a technique that would suit me, one that I could personalize to fit me and my lifestyle. In the end I used a combination of visual and tactile methods which for me proved very successful. Still today I see the technique that I used back then influence my present OBEs and help me continue my astral travels. So what main technique did I use and how did I integrate it into my life?

I call it a visualization technique but it uses tactile methods as well. The idea is to choose a place you know very well, a place that you can picture in your mind in great detail. A place you love to be that you can bring to life in your imagination. I chose my parents' garden because as a child I spent a lot of time there and I have such fond memories. Furthermore I know the garden in all the seasons, in all types of weather, the odours, perfume of the fowers, the smell of the grass after rain...... the joy I felt when I was playing as a child. There is an apple tree at the bottom, I used to climb it and can reproduce in my mind the feel and smell of the bark. I found a photo of the graden and carried it round with me, whenever I had a spare moment I would get out the photo and imagine myself there flying around, I would replay in my mind the feel of the bark of the apple tree, the smell of the grass, the feel of being in the garden. It was a very pleasurable process to go through.

Before sleeping at night I would look at my photo and go through the process of visualizing myself there. It was, and is, a very effective technique for me as even now I often find myself in my astral version of my garden, sometimes I miss the actual exit but wake up already out-of-body in my garden and from there I can continue my adventures. I started usng this technique about 12 years ago, I was there up the apple tree just a few days ago, and it was such a good feeling.
