Where Dreams May Lead........

Many people ask me how to have out-of-body experiences, there are indeed many techniques and ways to go about it. However, for me it wasn't really a matter of the right technique, it was more a particular mindset that led me to my first conscious out-of-body experience.

There is a question that I have been asking myself since I was very young..... 'Who am I?' Many of us ask that question sooner or later, some don't follow up others do. About 12 years ago I decided to try to answer that question. I wanted to know who I am, so I decided to start with my dreams, after all dreams give us many clues as to what is going around in our heads and can help us get to know our selves a little better.

So I started writing down my dreams, all my dreams, short, long, snippets, anything and everything that I could remember in the morning, or if I woke up during the night. Every so often I would have a lucid dream, and I loved them as I would meet up with a former geography teacher, who had died years ago, and we would chat about life and questions that I had etc. He became my favourite guide. It was my desire to meet him in lucid dreams which gave me my first out-of-body experience.

I wanted to learn how to lucid dream intentionally so I could converse with my guide. I tried various lucid dreaming tecniques continuously, if I woke up in the middle of the night I would try to keep my mind awake as my body fell asleep, I had read that this was a good way to induce a lucid dream. I can't say it was easy and usually I would just drop off to sleep. Then one night I managed it, I kept my mind awake while my body fell asleep. I felt my body sink further and further down into sleep such a nice sensation. I didn't have any expectations I just stayed calm and went with it.

I felt a fizzy sensation, as if I were buzzing with energy, then I found myself floating above my body. I stayed calm and just enjoyed the feeling, I tried to get to the window but I couldn't move very well. It was such a wonderful feeling, I felt so light, free and full of joy. It didn't last very long I think I returned to my body and I may have fizzed out again, I was really enjoying all the sensations.

When I finally work up I felt soooooo good. I couldn't believe I had just had an out-of-body experience. I knew what they were because you can't read about lucid dreams without coming across OBEs but I had never thought that I would be able to do it. For this reason I had concentrated on lucid dreams.

So for me OBEs were the next step towards understanding who I am, we are spirit in human form so to truly discover, experience and understand who we are, we have to experience ourself in our true form. Astral Projection/OBEs are a step along the path but not the goal.

It has been, and continues to be, a wonderful adventure.
